Various cycling sights from Chitown over the last month.
If you know anything about anything here, please share.
A lovely striking white 'Leader' working the streets.
A nice pairing.
Molly grabs the opportunity to try out the cargo seat on her friends big beautiful bike. Her mum is well loved on the Chicago bike advocacy scene and collector of all things bike, especially if you can fit child on there too.
Which is why she is the owner of a Mamachari, one of few in Chicago. Even though she loves it she has decided she has to sell it after only riding it home and giving it some deserved maintenance. For more information about this exact bike click here: Chicargobike.
This only really caught my eye because it is a 'Gavin' which is also the name of Molly's best friends new baby brother.
Anthropologie seem to be having a bit of a flirt with the bike as fashion icon, here on a summer dress and also a tote designed by Taliah Lempert.
This is another thing close to my heart. As a Brit I find it unbelieveable that cars are allowed to turn through a junction where pedestrians have a green light. As a father often carrying, pushing, walking alongside or trying to contain a four year old daughter I find the treatment of pedestrians on American streets frightening. It's true that pedestrians also have to be responsible. I believe I once read that many accidents occur when pedestrians cross within 50 feet of a crossing as opposed to on it. Cyclists too can be guilty of endangering pedestrians.
This is a reminder that we all need to take and share responsibility for the well being of those around us.
