Yesterday I rode home from an overnight camping trip at Illinois State Beach Park.
Having woken at 5am I decided to start riding before the traffic started.
On the way back riding through prairie trails and railway embankments
along the edge of the lake I realized that once home in the city I
would be away from all these sounds and smells, there was no big rush.
I rode up to Central Park in Highland Park that overlooks Lake Michigan and took the time to sketch.
I used pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink and oil pastel. Just quick sketches trying to convey the subtle changes in light off the lake's surface.
